Gym Creatures

So this blog has nothing to do with my course work, but I still wanted to share.  Since my 31st birthday is arriving next month I have decided to make preps for my mid-life crisis.  I figure I have 10 yrs to get in shape by going to the gym, thus ensuring when I hit the big 4-0 I can hit the ground running. Yes 10 I started last year. Don't worry, not going to get an earring or dye my hair with frosted tips. Well since I have been going to the gym on a regular basis, I have noticed a couple of things that I would like to share about the crowds and times.
Morning- Just like someone waking up, the people take their time and usually pace themselves. Tends to be an older crowd.
Afternoon- The "nooners" in and out in a hurray.
Evening-This is my favorite group, the gym is packed, and eye candy for everyone. What I love is watching a bunch of 50 yr old men who you can tell used to lift but recently the only things they lift are remotes and 6-packs as they stand in front of the mirrors and weights almost like the weights will magically do the work for them. Pretty much all they do is stare at the local girls soccer team running on the treadmill. Next to them is the local boys soccer team also looking at the girls except there is 6 or them in a group each taking turns on one set of weights. So in about an hour, they each have completed one set, noone is really sweating and a couple are fixing their hair or flexing in the mirrors. Every so often one will find an excuse to go up to the girls. Finally there are girls trying to get the guys attention from school, somehow they manage a workout even thou their cell phone never leaves their ear or stop texting.
I think its funny this crowd, there is so many people and not much going on. Almost like those weird and ackward middle school dances with guys on one side and the girls on the other.

  2. Perfect, so true. Except at the Huffman at OU, there's also the group of retired professors who work out. They get more done than anyone, are in better shape than anyone else, and actually keep to a pretty tight schedule, even though they must be going home to read.
